… and then “shut up.”
Too frequently, job seekers treat interviews as a time for true confessions. They’re asked a simple question about something in their work history during an interview and 15 minutes later, they’re still talking. Unfortunately, most of what’s said doesn’t pertain to the position in questions and gives more detail than a hiring authority needs to know. At best, they’ll bore the interview to tears. At worst, they’ll quickly find themselves in the NO WAY pile and out of the running. Nervousness, being unprepared and an unsureness in broaching difficult topics all lead to this phenomena of sharing too much unnecessary information.
